Quote: Don’t Worry About Balance
I found a great article in The New Yorker about Sheryl Sandberg, one of the most famous female managers in the Internet era, former Google manager and today a leading figure at Facebook.
The article talks a lot about her and others opinion on being a female manager – in a tech company, in Silicon Valley or elsewhere. It ends with a short but inspiring message from Sandberg, that I wanna share with you tonight. It actually could be my own working motto, or the one of many other workaholics.
“Don’t worry so much about balance. Work hard, stick with what you like, and don’t let go.”
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook.
Having said this, let me come to an end for tonight – I still got some work to do!

Video: Social Networks in France
Another video I want to share with you guys, this one is about social networks in France (réseaux sociaux). I have been living in this country for almost one and a half years, so it is quite interesting to look at these figures.
French love Facebook (the social network has about 20 million users in France) like people elsewhere in Europe do, but Twitter didn’t make it yet to the mainstream. Here France is the #33 in a worldwide ranking comparing the traffic generated by the platform.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the video is in French, but not very difficult to understand! ![]()

Infographic: World Map of Social Networks
The Russian news agency RIA Novosti published a nice worldmap visualizing dominating social networks per country. As we all know Facebook is by far the No. 1, but it didn’t take over yet quite important markets like Brazil or China. The leading social network in Brazil for example is Google’s Orkut. They are trying hard to keep their leadership and recently launched a new design that makes them look quite similar to their big competitor.

Orkut’s new design:
